About

More than technical advice.

Livorno is a port city. Anyone who works here learns early that goods crossing a border are not an accounting entry: they are a sequence of documents, controls, liabilities and deadlines, and each step can turn into a problem.

I spent the first part of my career inside that sequence, observing it from different positions. First as an officer of the Italian Coast Guard, then at the Navy General Staff dealing with relations with foreign navies, and finally from within an international freight forwarding company, responsible for administration and finance.

When I qualified as a chartered accountant in 2019 I did not start again from scratch. I went on dealing with the same matters, with different instruments.

The path, in brief

Ten years · Italian Coast Guard

Ten years with the Harbour Master Corps — Italian Coast Guard — and subsequently at the Navy General Staff. Operations rooms of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres of Livorno and Genoa, head of the litigation office of the Genoa Maritime Directorate, and later naval planning and relations with foreign navies.

Those years left three things: the habit of working in English with foreign counterparts in formal settings, familiarity with procedure and litigation, and the reflex of establishing the facts before forming a judgement.

Ten years · International freight forwarding and customs

Head of administration and finance in international freight forwarding and customs operations, responsible for group financial statements and management control.

This is the experience that matters most in my present work. I saw customs operations from inside the company that bears their consequences, not from the office that comments on them: what a misclassification means when the goods are held, what a disputed origin does to the margin of a contract, how the cash flows of a company trading across borders actually behave.

How I work

My approach combines technical expertise with a deliberate effort to understand the business more broadly: its objectives, its constraints, the people who run it.

I do not believe in answers that ignore the context in which they will be applied. A solution that is impeccable in tax terms but incompatible with the way the company operates remains a theoretical exercise.

This is why the first thing I ask for is not the documentation, but an account of the situation.
